Spring is here!

We are loving this weather! This weekend Connor got to spend time in his sandbox, kiddie pool and even went to the Arnold Palmer Invitational! We went to Bay Hill where the tournament was being held to meet up with my friend Erin and (finally) meet her baby, Grace! Her mother-in-law lives on the golf course with a nice view of the 18th hole and the 16th tee box. Connor had lots of fun 'walking' around and playing peek-a-boo with everyone from behind their chairs. We had a nice taste of springtime this weekend and plan on spending lots of time outdoors in the next coming months!

Update

I know it's been over a week since I posted last, but we've been busy! Last weekend we were in Cocoa Beach for my best friend Marti's wedding. We wanted to get there early on Saturday to enjoy a day of fun in the sun since I knew most of my day Sunday would be tied up with wedding stuff. Well, the hotel didn't have a room for us until almost 4 pm! We still went down to the beach but in order to get our camera out and all the fun beach toys we brought, we would have had to unpack most of the car in the parking lot. Needless to say, that didn't happen so once again....no pictures. We stayed in a loft at the hotel the wedding was at. Connor had so much fun going up the stairs and looking down from above. Half way up the stairs he would stop to do the 'Indian' (more about that later). So cute! The forecast for the weekend had predicted rain but not until Monday. I don't know why we even bother looking at the forecasts, they're never right! Sunday was not a very pretty day after all. I don't even think Connor made it down to the beach the rest of the weekend (we stayed through Monday). It started raining around 3 or so and didn't let up until almost 6 pm. Marti's wedding was scheduled to be on the beach at 4:30 pm! They didn't let that spoil the event, they improvised and held the ceremony under the deck by the beach where the reception was going to be. It was so awesome to see her and Chris finally get hitched and I was honored to be a part of their special day. After the rain passed two beautiful rainbows appeared out over the water and completely made up for the bad weather we had just incurred. Connor was in such a great mood all weekend, he must have known he was on vacation! :)

On Tuesday when I picked up Connor from daycare they 'walked' him out to me like they usually do. What I mean by that is they let him walk but they are holding onto his hands. It's become a daily ritual to encourage him to walk on his own. They always stop just a couple of feet before me to see if he will take a step on his own. Well he finally did!! He took two steps towards me and then stopped, as if he realized what he was doing and wasn't having it. We haven't been able to get him to do it again, but he's also a bit under the weather which leads me to my next story.

Today we took him to the doctor for his 1 year checkup. I know, we're overdue by a few weeks but we couldn't get the doctor we wanted anytime sooner. I didn't post about this but a few weeks back we had to take Connor to the doctor as he had a double ear infection. They treated him with daily antibiotic injections, one in each leg, for three consecutive days. By the second day Connor officially HATED the doctor's office. He knows exactly where he is the second we walk in. Today was no different. We weren't in there but 2 seconds when he started crying! Poor baby, I felt so bad especially knowing he had 3 shots coming. His appt went well, other than the fact he has another ear infection. He grew almost 2 inches since his last appt though he is only in the 25th percentile for height. I have only myself to blame for that one :p He is maintaining his 45th percentile for weight, weighing in at a healthy 22 lbs. We go back in a couple of weeks for a recheck of his ears. We're hoping they look good otherwise we're probably going to make a little visit to an ENT specialist. This is his ninth ear infection!

As for other updates, he's doing fantastic with solids and is pretty much weaned off of formula and onto whole milk. We're almost done with a bottle but the doctor isn't worried as long as most of his milk intake is in a cup. He loves playing 'Indian' right now. He beats his open hand over his mouth while he says Ahhh...it's so cute! He's also waving bye bye to everyone and loves to clap and give high fives. We're having the best time watching this little guy grow! I'll keep you all updated as he takes more steps and hopefully I'll get a video of him in action!

Gainesville

This past weekend we made a trip up to Gainesville. We were overdue for a visit as we haven't been up since November! We stayed with Gram and Grandpa and then went to town to visit with Great Grandma, Dominique, Dedi (Connor's other great grandmother) and Steve. After visiting with the family we made a quick trip to Keystone to visit Jessica, one of my best friends, and her family. We had a such a good time seeing everyone and hope it's not that long between visits again. Once again, Mommy forgot her camera :( so I don't have any new pictures for you. I took the one above and below yesterday just before we left town.

St. Patty's Day Parade

Yes, I'm aware it isn't St. Patrick's Day for another week and a half. However, Winter Park held their annual St. Patty's Day parade this past Sunday. Our friend Tim had a group of us over before the parade for some authentic Irish food and GREEN everywhere! After lunch we headed out for the parade. On the way there Connor fell asleep as it was past his nap time. Because we were only minutes away from where the parade was, we didn't think Connor was going to get much of a nap in for the day. Somehow John made the transition from car seat to stroller without him waking up! We found our spot at the parade just before it started. Wouldn't you know it, the parade kicked off with a cop car with his siren blasting. Next up was a fire truck! I thought for sure Connor would wake up then. He didn't even flinch. This was followed by bag pipes...still nothing. I couldn't believe it. About half way through the parade stopped for a moment in which the crowd applauded. That's all it took, Connor's eyes shot wide open. Funny how an everyday noise can do it, but not blasting sirens :) Connor enjoyed the rest of the parade with us, watching from Daddy's back. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, we had a great day!

We went to Emma's first birthday party on Saturday but Mommy forgot her camera. We had a great time and enjoyed watching her eat her cake! Happy Birthday Emma!

Happy Birthday Connor!!!

The day is finally here...we are now proud parents of a 1 year old!!! What better way to celebrate than spending the day with some family and friends. We needed to keep the event small so that Connor wouldn't be too intimidated. He started off a little timid but it didn't take long for him to warm up to the crowd. He went from wanting to be held to running around the house behind his walker! You could tell he was having a great time. Next up? Cake! We put Connor in his high chair and delivered his own personal birthday cake. He stuck his fingers in but wasn't sure what to make of it. Then he tasted his fingers. One taste was all it took! Connor loves cake! We had so much fun watching him enjoy his cake but I didn't want him to eat too much and get sick so we took it away. Well that wasn't enough for Connor. He was licking his fingers, picking the crumbs off his high chair, he even licked the frosting off the handles of his sippy cup! :o) He had a really fun and memorable first birthday. Thanks to all of our family and friends that could be there with us. We're planning a trip up to Gainesville in a couple of weeks so the rest of the family can see our big boy. If Connor's lucky he might even get another cake!

On Sunday we took Connor to get his new front facing car seat. He had really outgrown his infant seat but we wanted to wait until he was a year old to face him forward. He seems to enjoy it, spending all his time looking around. I think he likes being able to see us as well. He definitely has more room! After John installed it in the car we had to take him for a 'test run' so we drove up to the park. Connor enjoyed being in a different swing and even took a trip down the slide! Overall a very fun weekend.

Love to you all!
