Long (and Busy!) Weekend

John and I took Thursday and Friday off last week to take Connor to Anna Maria Island to visit our friends Jeremy and Danielle. We had the best time! The weather was perfect and Connor seemed to have warmed up to the whole beach experience. The Gulf is much warmer so he enjoyed the water this time and loved playing in the sand! He had fun pointing out each Seagull he saw. The condo was right on the beach so we ate dinner on the porch while watching the sunset go down the first night. Friday night before we left we ate dinner at the pier where we got another beautiful view of the sun setting. We didn’t want to leave!
My cousin Jessica was getting married on Saturday in Dixie, GA so we had to pack up and say goodbye. We drove up to Gainesville Friday night to break up the trip a little where we stayed with Gram and Grandpa. Saturday morning we all headed up to Georgia together. Jessica and Luke’s wedding was a joyous event. It was so good to see all of my family members whom we don’t get to see very often. And I finally got to meet baby Megan (who is absolutely precious)! The reception was a lot of fun too! Congratulations Jessica, we wish you and Luke nothing but happiness!
To break the trip up we drove back to my parents on Sunday before heading home to Orlando. Connor had so much fun! First he went swimming in the pool, then Gram took him to the lake to feed the fish! He also had fun playing with all of Gram’s cooking tools. He looked like a natural drummer banging on her pots with a spoon!
We took tons of pictures which I’ve included below. I’ve also got a couple of videos to share, one where he’s playing the drums and the other was taken recently of him pushing his popper toy around the house.
P.S. Connor gets red in the face when he gets hot, especially his cheeks. I don’t want anyone to think I didn’t put sunscreen on him or that he was sunburned :)

Happy Mother's Day!

We had a busy weekend, I have lots to catch you up on! Connor’s daycare held ‘Muffins with Mom’ Friday morning. I snuck out of work for just a bit to attend and I was so glad I did! It was adorable and so much fun to see him in his day to day surroundings. We really haven’t seen him ‘in action’ since he moved into the 1 year old room. When I got there, they were all sitting outside on little picnic benches eating their muffin pieces. I thought for sure Connor would get up when he saw me, but he didn’t! They were all so well behaved. The kids know they’re not supposed to get up until they are finished eating. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing….how do they do that? So I just sat next to Connor and ate a muffin with him. He really didn’t pay much attention to me. He’s getting so independent though I’m sure it was because we were in his comfort zone. After muffins was playtime so I just watched him interact with the kids on the playground. He was having fun pushing his toy and running all over the place. It was a great way to start my Friday! That night we had dinner with our next door neighbors who have a 7 month old named Dalton. They didn’t interact too much with each other but Dalton had a good time scoping Connor out!

Saturday was a busy day as we had two parties to go to! The first was for Chase’s 1st birthday! We had so much fun watching him eat cake. There is nothing better than watching a 1 year old dive in and devour his own birthday cake. Our next stop was the Moncello’s house for a pool party/play date. Connor wore his muscle shirt therefore Daddy felt compelled to put a temporary tattoo on him! I have to admit it was pretty cute. Good times there with lots of friends, food, drinks and FUN. They even busted out the karaoke machine later in the evening.

John let me sleep in on Saturday and he and Connor spent the morning making me the most special gift. They put Connor’s hand prints in clay! They gave it to me Sunday morning for Mother’s Day. I love it! We spent the rest of the day in Tampa with John’s family, minus Andrew who had to work :( Connor had a good time walking all over Nancy’s place and really enjoyed her stairs. His new thing is ‘talking’ on the phone. If you give him your cell phone he puts it up to his ear and jabs away (to no one) as he walks around the house. It’s hilarious! One day last week I was on the phone with John while we were in the car and he started babbling really loud so I asked him if he wanted to talk to Daddy. I handed him the phone in which he put it to his ear and started talking! He ‘talked’ the rest of the drive home – almost 10 minutes! I tried to take the phone away at one point thinking for sure John had hung up or Connor had hung up on him but no, he was still there! Connor got upset so I gave the phone back and he started jabbing away again! He’s too funny.

Yesterday was our 2 year wedding anniversary. Tim was awesome and offered to babysit Connor so we could go out to dinner to celebrate. We went to Bonefish and had a lovely time. Thanks Tim! We have another busy weekend ahead of us. We’re going to Anna Maria island on Thursday and then driving up to Gainesville Friday night before heading to Georgia on Saturday for my cousin Jessica’s wedding!

Beach Day!

Saturday we spent the day at Daytona Beach celebrating our friend Christine’s birthday. It was a gorgeous day without a cloud in the sky, but it was super windy! It was so windy Connor had a hard time keeping his balance when walking! He didn’t like the water so much (it was still pretty cold) but he really enjoyed the sand. He even had fun eating it!

In other news, Connor is now 14 months old! I still can’t believe how fast he’s growing up (I know I sound like a broken record). He is now running all over the place. It just amazes me how quickly he built up his confidence and went from teetering around the house to running up and down the isle’s at Target yesterday. Another new interest of his is reading books. Well, he’s not reading but he loves to pick out books for us to read to him! He can’t get enough, you finish up one book and he’s pointing to the next. I’m starting to believe he’s trying to extend his bedtime ;)

We went for his two week follow-up appt today for his ears. They looked great! Woo hoo! Connor did have to go to the doctor last week where they put him on antibiotics yet again to treat a sinus infection. BUT thankfully it wasn’t for an ear infection! If it’s not one thing it’s another! :p Now we’re just hoping we don’t see the doctor again until his 15 month checkup. Wish us luck...
